Alex Charovas is a London based photographer and visual artist born and raised in Greece. His work, which is seated between Art and Fashion photography is influenced by the virility of Greek and Roman sculptures while wears the colours and shades of renaissance aesthetic.
Artistically, Alex is discussing the theme of the gaze as identity of recognition among homosexual and heterosexual people.
Alex’s interest in photography began when he was a young. Known as ‘the one who takes the best pictures,’ Alex would use his Kodak instamatic camera for taking family pictures and personal portraits.
While Alex started as a self-taught, after his voyage in product photography, alongside family commitments and entrepreneurial endeavours, he has been able to develop professionally by expanding his knowledges in photography academically.
"Not only to take photos love I but to talk photography too" Alex says.
He is currently studying a BA Photography at Westminster University, after he graduated from London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA) and Walsall College having studied Art and Design.
Throughout transcendental experimentations, Alex has sought out ideas and influences not only for well composed and appropriately lit photographies, but also to communicate his ideas by capturing the pure essence and beauty of life. Distinctive element in his pictures is the strong contrast and dramatic effects as well as an artistic approach via postproduction.
